Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-11-03

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Stonemind app (the "App"), provided by Pocketleaf, operated by Kyrylo Niesmielov (published on the App Store as "Kyrylo Niesmielov") ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms, which serve as the App's end-user licence agreement (EULA). If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Apple's standard licence

Your use of the App is also governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. These Terms add to the Standard EULA; where they conflict, the Standard EULA applies to the extent required.

3. Licence

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and the App Store's rules.

4. A practice in thinking, not advice

Stonemind presents classic philosophical dilemmas and thought experiments for reflection. It is not therapy, counselling, medical, legal or financial advice, and it is not an emergency service. Some dilemmas deal with death, violence and hard moral choices.

If you are thinking about harming yourself or feel unsafe, contact your local emergency number now, or find a free helpline in your country at https://findahelpline.com. In the United States and Canada you can call or text 988.

5. AI-generated content

Socrates, "Against you", the steelman, conversations with a thinker, My situation, A book for you and AI debate opponents are generated by artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude models). AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete or one-sided. It is offered to help you think, not as fact or professional advice, and you should not rely on it for decisions about your health, safety, finances or legal matters.

When you talk to a thinker, the replies are an AI interpretation written in the spirit of that thinker's published ideas. They are not quotations, and they do not represent the views of any real person, living or dead, or of their estate or publishers.

AI replies are written in the language you write in, or in the App's language when there is too little of your text to tell. AI features have daily limits shown in the App and may be unavailable at times.

6. Community rules — zero tolerance

Duels, the Agora, clubs and debates let you share text with other people. By accepting the rules of the Agora in the App and by using these features, you agree to these rules. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users.

Argue with ideas, not people: disagree as hard as you like, but never attack the person. No hate, threats or harassment, and nothing that targets anyone for who they are. Keep it safe: no sexual content and no encouragement of self-harm or harm to others. Be yourself: no spam, ads, links, or pretending to be someone else. Do not post anyone's personal details, such as a full name, phone number, email or address. Do not post anything unlawful or anything you have no right to share.

Every display name, argument, club name and message, debate turn and duel reason is checked by an automatic filter before it appears, and is not published if it breaks these rules.

You can report any argument, message, duel, debate or person, and block any user, from the ⋯ menu. Blocking takes effect immediately: you no longer see each other's posts, duels or debates. You can manage blocked people in Settings → Blocked people.

A person reviews every report within 24 hours. Content reported by several people is hidden while it is reviewed. We remove content that breaks these rules and remove the voice of users who break them — their access to the Agora, debates and clubs — without notice. Serious or repeated breaches may lead us to end your access to the App's community features permanently.

Club admins can remove members and manage their club; they are users, not our staff, and their decisions are subject to these rules.

7. Your content

What you write in the App is yours. Your journal is kept on your phone and in your private iCloud; you are responsible for keeping your own copies, and the App lets you back up and export it.

When you post in the Agora, a club, a debate or a duel, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and transmit that content to the people it is meant for, for as long as it remains in the App. You can delete an Agora argument at any time, and Erase all my data deletes your community content as described in the Privacy Policy. Anyone you send a duel link to, and anyone they pass it on to before it expires, can see that duel's page.

You are responsible for what you post. We do not endorse user content and are not responsible for it, but we may remove any content at our discretion.

When you use an AI feature, you give us permission to send the text that feature needs to our AI provider, only to generate your reply, as described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Free, Premium and one-time purchases

Free for everyone: the daily dilemma from every hall, the scale and carving, your stone, streak and shelf, the share card, the world's answers, duels, the Agora, clubs, debates, monthly exams, time capsules, your year in philosophy, the Book of Answers PDF, widgets, one stoic rest day a month, the last seven days of the archive, and three Socrates questions in total.

Premium adds: where the great thinkers stand, the book and lesson behind each dilemma, Socrates every day, "Against you" and the steelman, conversations with thinkers, My situation, the full archive and missed days, theme weeks, a second round, the full map of your beliefs, a monthly book pick, and a second rest day each month. AI features in Premium have daily limits shown in the App.

Packs are themed sets of dilemmas sold as one-time purchases. They are not included in Premium, are yours to keep, and can be restored on the same Apple ID.

9. Subscriptions, free trial and billing

Premium is available as an auto-renewing monthly subscription or an auto-renewing yearly subscription. The App may also offer a yearly subscription at a reduced price for the first year, which then renews at the regular yearly price. The price and period of each option are shown in the App before you buy and may vary by country.

The yearly subscription includes a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts to a paid yearly subscription and you are charged when the trial ends. The monthly subscription has no free trial. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase (or when the trial ends). Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.

You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple ID settings: on iPhone, Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies.

10. Extra AI questions (consumable)

Premium subscribers who reach a daily AI limit can buy packs of extra AI questions. These are consumable in-app purchases: each AI request made after a daily limit uses one question, in any AI feature. Purchased questions do not expire and do not renew.

Your balance is kept on our server and tied to the App's anonymous ID. Because consumables are used up, they cannot be restored with Restore purchases, and erasing all your data may make an unused balance unrecoverable. If you lose a balance you paid for, email us.

Extra AI questions have no cash value and cannot be transferred.

11. Restoring purchases

If you reinstall the App or move to a new iPhone, use Restore purchases (Settings → Data & iCloud, or on the paywall) to recover Premium and packs on the same Apple ID.

12. Acceptable use

Please don't misuse the App: don't try to bypass purchases, AI limits or the community filter, send automated or bulk requests, use the App to produce unlawful, harassing or harmful content, interfere with the App or our servers, or reverse-engineer the App except where the law allows. We may limit or suspend access for a device or anonymous ID that abuses it.

13. Apple

These Terms are between you and us, not with Apple, and we — not Apple — are responsible for the App and its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App. If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price, if any; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection and intellectual-property claims. You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US government embargo and are not on a US list of prohibited parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

14. Disclaimer

The App, including its AI features and user content, is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not promise that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that AI output or user content will be accurate or appropriate.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pocketleaf is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including decisions made on the basis of AI output, content posted by other users, or loss of content stored on your device. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

16. Ending use

You can stop using the App at any time: use Settings → Data & iCloud → Erase all my data, then delete it. We may suspend or end your access to the community or AI features if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms.

17. Governing law and changes

These Terms are governed by the law of the place where the operator is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and without taking away any protection the consumer law of your own country gives you. We may update these Terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use the App after a change means you accept it.
